I am new to the Henry Wood Detective Agency world, but am glad I stumbled upon this little gem. Brian Meeks has successfully led us around and through the world of Henry Wood, Luna Alexander, Sylvia Culberson, their respective families, and their friends. An added bonus is the as-yetunsolved mystery of the secret (or, not-so-secret, now!) closet and its gifts from the future. While every mystery has a few "obvious" moments, this particular mystery manages to keep us on our toes as we delve further into the pages to discover the secret behind the missing fathers. Meeks doesn't give all of Henry's secrets away immediately; he allows a few things to be played close to the vest. The best part is the promise of "more," as we know Luna and Henry may reconnect, the closet needs to be investigated more, and Mike and Francis are BOUND to lead us into a mystery or two of their own. Henry Wood Detective Agency receives a definite thumbs up!

~ Angeles Winesett

Private detective agent Henry Wood is a man who plays by his own rules, cunning and assiduous he’ll stumble across one case that isn’t all what it seems. It’s January 1, 1955 when a striking dame named Luna Alexander guided by her father’s wisdom falls upon Henry Wood’s office; an investigator trained more in the ways of small time crimes and petty fall outs must now unravel a mysterious case. In this game of betrayer and the betrayed Wood determined to bring about justice to his client faces danger with a witty quip and willingness to risk anything for the sake of  lawfulness.   This is a great book that keeps you guessing the plot ending until the very last page, will it play put as you suspected?  Great read!

I felt I'd entered Ali Baba's cave when I came across Henry Wood Detective Agency. Brian's masterful way of telling stories within stories conjured up images of the old TV series "Moonlighting," perfectly evoking an alternate universe where bad stuff happens yet good guys win, in the classiest way possible.
